Sachs Covered Bridge: this 100-foot long span, built over Marsh Creek in 1854, was used by Union and Confederate troops before, during and after the battle of Gettysburg. Retreating Confederates crossed it for a final time on the rainy night of July 4, 1863, when they made their way back to Maryland and Virginia following the Civil War's most terrible battle. The bridge was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
