Gaëtane Niquet was "Jacky" in 1961, one of a community of young and attractive transexuals who hustled the streets of a Paris red light district to raise money for sex-change operations. Swedish photographer Christer Strömholm befriended them and documented their lives with images that became a sensational 1983 book, "Les Amies de Place Blanche." Niquet attended the 2012 opening of an exhibit of Strömholm's work at New York's International Center of Photography.
