    LITTLE ROUND TOP

It was the scene of heavy fighting on the second day of the three-day battle, during which Federal troops repulsed repeated charges by Confederates. In the foreground is a marshy area of some 40 acres, extending from Devil's Den and the Round Tops to Hauck Ridge, that came to be known as the Valley of Death.

    LARGEST MONUMENT

The Pennsylvania State Memorial honors the 34,530 Pennsylvanians who fought at Gettysburg. Their names are listed on bronze tablets around the 100-foot-square pedestal. The pavilion's four towers are linked by arches, and a spiral staircase leads from the central hall to an observation deck around the base of the dome. Melted-down cannons provided the material for the statue of Athena atop the dome.

    SACHS BRIDGE

This 100-foot long span crosses Marsh Creek and was used by Union and Confederate troops before, during and after the battle of Gettysburg. Retreating Confederates crossed it for a final time on the rainy night of July 4, 1863, when they made their way back to Maryland and Virginia following the Civil War's most terrible battle.
