At Moosehead Lake in Maine
This is where the Welsh poet lived in Laugharne, the small fishing village that was the inspiration for his drama Under Milk Wood. This play for voices was first performed in in 1953 in New York, where Thomas died six months later.
The borough was home to 4,500 people in the 2010 census in a coal mining region that is popular for hunting and fishing, boating, rafting, skiing and biking.
